Towns are player-owned settlements built around a captured Territory Generator. They give members a protected home base, a private chat, and a levelling system that unlocks perks, zoning, and industries as the town grows.
Creating a Town
A town starts with capturing a Territory Generator: find its inhibitor pad and stand on the pressure plate to start the fight. The inhibitor takes 15 minutes to come fully online, after which the Generator itself can be attacked. Loka's map shows every Generator and its region.
Once the Generator is captured, founding the town takes 3 members including the founder. The founder talks to the Generator's NPC and invites players with /g invite; every invited member then has to talk to the NPC themselves, all within 24 hours of the capture or it neutralises and has to be captured again. Once two other members have spoken to the NPC, the founder speaks to it once more to finalise the town. It starts with a balance of 350 Power Shards, and its Generator's entire region becomes the town's territory — only invited members get build permissions inside it.
The Generator consumes Power Shards every real-life day to keep the town's protection running, funded by depositing Power Shards into its chest. Power Shards themselves come from the Ore Exchanger at spawn, which converts iron, gold, diamond, emerald, and lapis lazuli blocks into them.
Where Towns Can Be Built
Towns can only be built on the mainland of Garama, Ascalon, or Kalros — never adjacent to a continent's docks, on a rejuvenating isle such as The End, the Nether, or a Resource Isle, or next to an infested tile. No more than two towns can be adjacent to each other, so once two neighbouring towns exist, no third town can be founded next to either of them.
Generator Upkeep
Every 24 hours the Generator consumes 50 Power Shards by default, rising with the number of territories the town owns and with certain Capital Policies:
| Territories | Additional Cost Each | Total Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 20 | 520 |
| 2 | 40 | 560 |
| 3 | 60 | 620 |
| 4 | 80 | 700 |
| 5 | 100 | 800 |
| 6 | 120 | 920 |
| 7 | 140 | 1,060 |
| 8 | 160 | 1,220 |
| 9 | 180 | 1,400 |
| 10 | 200 | 1,600 |
| 11 | 220 | 1,820 |
| 12 | 240 | 2,060 |
| 13 | 260 | 2,320 |
| 14 | 280 | 2,600 |
| 15 | 300 | 2,900 |
| 16 | 320 | 3,220 |
| 17 | 340 | 3,560 |
| 18 | 360 | 3,920 |
| 19 | 380 | 4,300 |
| 20 | 400 | 4,700 |

| 28 | 560 | 8,620 |
| 29 | 580 | 9,200 |
| 30 | 600 | 9,800 |
Upkeep also rises during inactivity, multiplying the normal cost:
- 2 weeks inactive — 2× cost
- 3 weeks inactive — 3× cost
- 4 weeks inactive — 4× cost
Mastery
Everything a town's members do — building, mining, farming, enchanting, fighting, and more — is tracked by Loka's mastery system and counts toward one of 15 masteries, each levelling up to 100 and grouped into four categories. A town's masteries can be viewed with /town level. Reaching level 20 in any Gathering mastery, or level 40 in any Artisan mastery, unlocks that mastery's industry building.
| Gathering | |
|---|---|
| Mining | Gathering the rare ores of the world |
| Logging | Felling trees and giant mushrooms, leaves, and vines |
| Excavation | Digging and excavating common ground blocks |
| Farming | Growing and harvesting plants and animals |
| Artisan | |
|---|---|
| Engineering | Crafting redstone items and other utility blocks |
| Cooking | Baking and cooking meats and other consumables |
| Enchanting | Adding enchants to gear, weapons, and tools |
| Alchemy | Brewing potions |
| Blacksmithing | Crafting and forging tools |
| Combat | |
|---|---|
| Battlegrounds | Participating in Loka's Battlegrounds |
| World PvP | Skill in combat against other players in the world |
| Arenas | Fighting in Loka's Arena PvP systems |
| PvE | Killing monsters throughout Loka |
| Miscellaneous | |
|---|---|
| Building | Placing blocks |
| Crafting | Crafting general blocks for various uses |
Town Level
A town's overall level is the average of its 15 mastery levels, halved, capped at 25. /town info shows a town's general info including its level; /town level shows the same level plus progress toward the next one.

Zones
Zones let a town grant different build/use permissions to different member levels across its territory — e.g. giving a brand-new member access to only the lowest-level zones until they've proven themselves. Up to 5 levels of zone can be created as the town's mastery level unlocks them, per the Town Perks table above.
A golden axe selects the zone area: left-click sets the first corner, right-click the second. With an area selected, /town z create [name] [level] creates the zone.

What Takes Priority
With no zones created, a town's default level governs the whole territory. Creating a zone makes that zone take priority over the default level, even if the default level is higher — a level 1 zone still overrides a level 4 default. Nesting zones inside each other follows the same rule: the highest-level zone among them takes priority.
Claimable Zones
Claimable zones give new players a fast way to claim a plot to build on. To make one: create a zone, place a stone brick block inside its borders, then shift-click a sign onto that block. A chat prompt asks whether to make the zone claimable; clicking the zone name confirms it. Any player at or below the zone's level can then claim it by breaking the sign, becoming its owner. A player above the zone's level who breaks the sign instead makes it unclaimable again — shift-clicking a sign back onto the block re-enables it.
- Only levels 1–4 zones can be made claimable — not level 5
- Claimable zones need town level 10 (Becoming a Town) unlocked first
- Creating one requires being an owner (level 5) or at least the
/town perm zoninglevel - Claiming one requires being at or below the zone's own level
Industry Zones
Industry zones are created automatically alongside an industry and deleted with it — they can't be redefined or deleted independently, though their level can still be changed with /t industry level, which controls who can build and edit inside them.
Zone Flags
/town z flag sets the minimum member level needed for four separate actions in a zone: shulker (opening shulker boxes), interact (interacting with objects), container (opening other containers), and teleport (using ender pearls in the zone).
Town Portals
Every town automatically gets a town portal on creation, giving members instant, unlimited, cooldown-free travel between the town and Aladra. It starts inside the Territory Generator, but can be moved anywhere within the town's borders.
To move it: select an area of up to 27 blocks with a golden axe, stand where arriving players should spawn, then use /town setportal.
The level 25 Town Perk (Intra-Town Portals) allows a second portal pair within the same town, working the same way between any two points inside it: select up to 27 blocks as the source and use /town setportal2 source, then select the destination area and use /town setportal2 dest.
Town owners can invite non-members to the town with /tpahere [name], teleporting them straight to the town portal — both players must already be in Aladra for this to work.
Players without a town use a home instead; see Fast Travel for how that works.
